Kim Pierce
I am passionate about fostering creativity and nurturing artistic expression in
students of all ages. While my education background was firmly rooted in
biology/microbiology, I have continually found my true calling in creative arts. I bring 15 years of guiding elementary age students in both Sunday School and creative arts. I
have also coordinated creative art experiences for all ages through church and
community group involvement. I volunteer with community art events/festivals as
schedules allow. I have been a member of an art journaling group for the past four
years and create and sell art for a local craft mall.
Teaching Philosophy: My teaching philosophy revolves around creating a supportive
and encouraging environment where students feel empowered to explore their creativity
freely. I believe in the importance of cultivating both technical skills and creative
thinking, encouraging students to experiment with different mediums and techniques
while also developing their own unique artistic voice. I believe we were designed by
God, in His image, to create and share these creations.
Areas of Expertise: My personal areas of experience include drawing, painting, jewelry
design, stained glass, photo editing, jewelry mosaics, upcycling of found or retired
materials, and caricature/cartoon game artwork via Procreate app. What I love the most
about art and hope to share with others, is the ability to express, through art, the
deepest feelings and personal experiences. For me, honestly, art is life.
