Course Description:

Students will engage in activities and games that help students appreciate music. They will learn the history, the purpose and benefits, different styles and techniques, different instruments, how to read and play music, and how to share it as a blessing for others. Students will listen to different genres of music, and gain a better understanding of how it works. We will also explore some of the science behind music and how we get the different sounds through experiments and crafts. Lastly, students will participate in an end of semester project to share something that they learned that semester.

First and foremost, I am a believer in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. He is the reason I do anything. At this time, I have the privilege of homeschooling my 3 kids (2 girls, and 1 boy), while my husband serves in the Navy. After receiving my Masters in Elementary Education with certification (2022), I have finally decided to look for other teaching opportunities while still ministering and providing an education for my own children. Hopefully, through ECHO, I will be able to share my love of music with your children. As far as my credentials for teaching music, I have a Bachelors Degree in Music Business from the University of Arkansas (2007). In addition to my degree, I studied music education courses in elementary music, choir, and all band instruments. As a musician, I have taught bassoon, clarinet, flute, saxophone, oboe, and piano privately. Momentarily, I taught music in various forms and schools, such as elementary music and band, through the Moore Public Schools as a substitute teacher. Plus, I instructed a small children’s choir at a co-op in San Diego. Because of my passion for music, I was given the role as the children’s worship leader for the children’s program at our church in San Diego. I hope to share some of the wonderful experiences I have had with music in my life!
