Graphic Design
Materials: Sketchbook, laptop with a student subscription to Adobe to access Illustraton and InDesign
Supply Fee: $20 per year
Length: 1 hour class
In this class we will learn the various principles of art and design as they apply to graphic design. However, this is not an art class, and drawing skills are not needed. We will learn how to brainstorm ideas and walk through the entire design process. Students will need to be able to access the internet and do image searches for their projects. All of our learning will be project based, but throughout the year I’ll sprinkle in a little graphic design history.

I have been teaching graphic design for the last few years. My degree is in graphic design from UCO. My philosophy in teaching this class is not only to teach students how to think like a designer and all the basic principles that go with that, but also to teach them a sense of wonder and “what if”. I love to see them learn the very difficult skill of brainstorming a project and thinking beyond the obvious. Along the way, I like to throw in a little graphic design history too.
